MacMillan Cancer Support Stories

Across the country communities, clubs, businesses and schools  have been raising money whilst enjoying delicious Kenco coffee and home baking

MacMillan Cancer support coffee mornings.

 

The World’s Biggest Coffee Morning has been getting everybody drinking Kenco coffee, eating cake and raising funds for Macmillan Cancer Support’s biggest fund-raising event. Kenco Local members encouraged their customers to participate by hosting a coffee morning at work using free Kenco sponsor packs which included Kenco Coffee and free branded cups to customers to spread the important message. We’re pleased to include some of our successes:

Macmillan Coffee Morning Fundraisers….

Park Veterinary Centre

Our Kenco Local member loaned a Kenco Singles coffee machine and stock to Watford’s Park Veterinary Centre to help them raise a fantastic £816.74 from their MacMillan Coffee Morning.

Green Man Pub

£670 was raised for MacMillan Cancer Research by the staff and local of the Green Man Pub in Hemel Hempstead where they held a themed Mad Hatters party event. Kenco Local donated prizes and a loaned a Kenco Singles coffee machine to help with the event.

Cott Beverages

Well done to all staff who got involved at Yorkshire company Cott Beverages who got involved in two MacMillan Coffee Morning events at two separate locations in Pontefract raising £493 and 214.07.

Hatfield Town Council

Kenco Local supplied a Kenco Singles Brewer and stock at The Hatfield Hub, this helped the Council organised event raise £79.05 for MacMillan Cancer Research.

Pathhead Village Hall

The community in Pathhead, East Lothian all got involved in a fantastic MacMillan event in their Village Hall. The event was enjoyed by villagers old and young – with baking from Wahlbergs and a Kenco coffee kit supplied they raised an exceptional £700.

Luckenbooth Project in Coldingham

The locals in the small village of Coldingham were all very busy with many MacMillan Coffee Mornings going on, £40 was raised by the Luckenbooth project.

Grassroots Project Link

Thanks to all those who participated and donated and helped to raise £536.86 at the Grassroots Project links in Twickenham and Tring where Kenco Singles was the coffee supplied on the day.

GTG Care and Nursing Services

GTG staff in Walsall enjoyed a coffee morning along with their clients. Staff contributed with tasty home baking and a sponsor kit enabled them all to enjoy cups of Kenco coffee. They raised an excellent £150.

Westways Vending – Kenco Local member

Westways vending held the biggest raffle [in westways history] and had three bake off/cake sales in the week up to the main event. A great time was had by all and an excellent  £1330.00 was raised.

Sallys classic catering

Sallys classic catering in Norfolk used their Kenco sponsor kit to sell coffee and beautiful cakes (main picture) to raise an amazing £1532.92 for MacMillan Cancer Support.

Rebecca Lloyd 12 years, Livingston Station

By far the youngest organiser Rebecca raised a marvellous £820 with a community open Coffee Morning with Kenco coffee and cake sale, raffle and coloured hair sprays. Bakers from all over Scotland donated cakes, local businesses gave to the raffle and she was supported by her family, friends and neighbours to make it a fantastic success.

Greenock Golf Club

The ladies section at Greenock Golf Club had an even bigger MacMillan Coffee Morning on 15 October. 80 to 90 people attended and in an hour and a half they raised an amazing amount of £698. All of the committee’s hard work was worth it.

Dundee University

£202.50 (including gift aid) was donated by Dundee University Staff and students. The College of Arts and SocialSciences produced some delicious home baking to raise funds and their Coffee kit helped refresh the morning which was held in the Tower building foyer on 27 September.

Hutcheson Grammar School

Hutcheson Grammar School in Glasgow enjoyed a coffee break whilst raising funds for MacMillan on Thursday 26 September. A Kenco Local Sponsor kit and a delightful selection of cakes and biscuits made by the staff ensured a successful morning. Pupils collected donations of £228.57 on the day… brilliant

St Georges school

Also in Norfolk St Georges school raised £196.00 with a MacMillan Coffee Morning open to pupils, teachers and parents.

Corstorphine community

The local Corstorphine community in Edinburgh raised funds for MacMillan Cancer Support with a Library staff led Coffee morning on Friday 27 September. Donations were given by the public who helped themselves to a Kenco coffee and cake… absolutely delicious. £233 was raised on the day with the help of a kit provided by Alba Beverage.

Sacred Heart Primary School

A fantastic £380 was raised by pupils and teachers at the Sacred Heart Primary School in Penicuik, Midlothian. Pupils made cakes and sweets with their parents and brought them along to sell at the MacMillan Coffee morning which was run by the upper school pupils on 27 September.

Hilton Academy

On 27 September Hilton Academy staff in Newcastle Upon Tyne enjoyed a coffee morning raising over £66 in donations from staff baked cakes and a coffee kit provided by Dispense a vend. The event was dedicated to Elsa Hardy.

Adactus

A hat day was held in Thame in aid of MacMillan Cancer Research, staff enjoyed a coffee morning whilst wearing a selection of hats and raised £58.49 on the day and still counting…
